GANT RUGGER BACK TO SCHOOL

GANT Rugger designer Christopher Bastin

Not only Bob Andrews has shown his Pre-Fall 2011 collection also Christopher Bastin presented his Pre-Fall 2011 GANT Rugger collection. This is the first time the brand brings a full range in a Pre-Fall collection. The showroom breaths the atmosphere of a classroom of that period. (pics from cafe.se)

URBAN PREPPY BY GANT

Bob Andrews presented his first collection for GANT, the Pre-Fall 2011 collection. This collection is called Urban Preppy and the main colours are black, red and off-white. This colour palette will be for sure a window stopper as we are not used to the fact  that GANT delivers a collection based on black. The Pre-Fall collection will hit the stores in May 2011, so we have to wait a while for those great Buffalo check shawl collar sweater and the Nordic patterns. (pics from cafe.se)

BOB ANDREWS @ GANT

Today I'm heading for Stockholm, Sweden. Tomorrow, Bob Andrews will present his first collection for GANT. He is appointed at GANT as the new Creative Director. Bob was previously at Polo Ralph Lauren for 17 years, holding various positions, latterly senior vice-president of design for men's and woman's accessories. He then left the fashion industry in 2007 to work on a range of film and interior design projects. His appointment at GANT will mark his return to the industry. So I'm even more curious about the collection as before, keep you posted.

THE ARTIC FOX

The Swedish Flag of Kånken Backpacks
The Greenlander Parka

50th Anniversary Backpack

Fjällräven (wich means the arctic fox) has equipped the Swedes for over fifty year now. What started in a small cellar in Örnsköldsvik by the company’s founder Åke Nordin and what seemed to be a simple idea: “To make nature more accesible for people”, paved a way for a great success. Fjällräven makes truly classic outdoor clothing. There is a heritage and a touch of vintage to them and it’s not uncommon for many of the Fjällräven products to be handed down from one generation to the next. They have been copied by many, like the “Greenland Jacket”, a mountain parka from 1968 which originally was made out of tent fabric like the Fjällräven Vintage rucksack, the Kånken has been a staple of schoolchildren all over the world since 1978. Year after year, both the mountain parka and the rucksack along with many other products still remain as part of the Fjällräven collection. Functionality along with great design never goes out of style!

A Duffle coat is a short coat, with or without a hood, first worn during the Second World War by the men of the British Royal Navy. Cut to hip or kneelength, the coat was made of a heavy woollen felted material and fastened with rod-shaped wooden toggles that passed through rope or leatherloops. Surplus duffle coats were sold to the public after the war.
